Within the second edition of ARCADIA International film exhibition rescued and restored.
October 22 – 26, 2019
The National Autonomous University of Mexico, through its Cultural Dissemination Coordination and the Directorate General of Cinematographic Activities, in collaboration with the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), the Cineteca di Bologna and L’Immagine Ritrovata, convenes technical staff of fillm archives from Latin America, professionals, lm students and anyone interested in preservation and digital restoration, to attend the Mexico Film Preservation & Restoration School, from October 22 to 26, 2019, in order to address the topics related to film preservation and restoration, and provide the best practical restoration and archival training.
Since 2007 the Cineteca di Bologna and the laboratory of L’Immagine Ritrovata, in collaboration with FIAF and with the support of ACE, have organized the FIAF Film Restoration Summer School in Bologna, Italy, which lasts 3 weeks. Likewise, since 2013 a short version of that project has been held outside Italy every two years: the Film Restoration School Asia (Singapore, 2013), the Film Preservation and Restoration School India (Mumbai, 2015), the Film Preservation and Restoration School Latin America (Buenos Aires, 2017) and now the Film Preservation and Restoration Shool Mexico, 2019 (Mexico City).
The 5-day program includes theoretical classes on the restoration and preservation of films as well as analysis of specific cases taught by experts from around the world; practices carried out by the technical staff of L’Immagine Ritrovata, where students are divided into small groups to provide more opportunities for practical work and evening exhibitions of film restorations.
